In the eighteenth century, the practice of science at the University of Padua went through an intense period of changes, due to figures like Antonio Vallisneri and Giovanni Poleni.
Characterized by objects of great value, often unique or very rare, the collection of the Museum of the History of Physics not only represents a precious evidence of the physics teaching and research in Padua from the eighteenth century onwards, but it also depicts the fascinating development of scientific thought and technology.
The Mantova Benavides is the only collection of art and antiquities from the paduan Renaissance that is still preserved today, for a third of the original amount, in Padua, at Museum of Archaeological Sciences and Art, thanks to the Vallisneri donation to the University in 1733.
The museum of Geology and Paleontology houses tens of thousands of fossil plants, invertebrates and vertebrates and rock samples. Most of them are coming from sites in Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Trentino Alto Adige regions.
