Description: Crustacea are an important group of mostly marine arthropods, although some forms live in freshwater and others on land. The specimen has the typical features of the species: massif oval carapace, convex forward. The frontal side edges are arcuate and ornate with eight teeth of decreaseing length proceeding backward. The rear side edges are shorter, concave and without indentations. The surface of the carapace is uniformly dotted and does not have subdivision. This species is characterized by large massive claws, from which the specific name of macrochelus (i.e. big claws). It is often incorrectly referred to as macrocheilus. This species is known from Hungary, Germany, France, Italy, Egypt and Somalia.
