Head of a Man
Class and production: sculpture/ relief
Cultural context: roman period
Date: 2nd/3rd century A.D.
Description
This little head, as well as MB99 and MB105, presents a level of attention to the detail that is not evenly distributed on its surface, which is possible to garner from the asymmetric way the two side of the face are treated. The part that was once connected with the rest of the high-relief, is nearby the back of the head. According to some technical details such as the use of the drill and the output of the pupils, the work could be dated around the 2nd/3rd century A.D. M. De Paoli suggests it was made by a local workshop as well as the other heads: MB99, MB100 and MB105.
