During the years 1938-1943, the rector Carlo Anti, with the collaboration of the architect and designer Gio Ponti, promoted the realization of a rich decorative complex hosted in the main rooms and the degree halls of the Bo Palace and in the entrance hall of Liviano Palace.
All the frescoes and paintings realized are designed to celebrate the University, its educational value and its history. Complexes of this kind are very rare for the epoch in Italy, taking into consideration either the number of masterpieces, either the stylistic and conceptual coherence, either the participation of several artists, most of them very famous. Moreover, rector Carlo Anti believed that new frescoes of the University could integrate well in the city of Padua, which houses other famous fresco cycles (i.e. Cappella Scrovegni, the Hall of Giants, Cappella Ovetari of the Eremitani church).
Today this rich heritage is almost unknown, because its location in the very heart of the University - in offices and rooms used for academic life - do not make possible the visit by the general public.
