Title: Students who became Saints and blessed – The ancient and new buildings of the University – The symbols of the sciences

Author: Pendini Fulvio, 1907/ 1975

Date: 1956

Description

The decoration of the Rector’s Gallery was commissioned to Pietro Fornasetti, who however did not complete it as he was drafted. The decoration was completed in 1956 by Fulvio Pendini, who realized the images of students become Saints and blessed on the central pillars, and the symbols of the sciences on the sides. In the lunettes above the windows he depicted some of the old and new University buildings: the astronomical Observatory at Asiago, the first buildings of the Universities of Arts and Law in Piazza del Santo, the Botanical Garden, the Collegio Pratense and the ancient Specola.
